Effects of Rural-Urban Return Migration on Women’s Family Planning and Reproductive Health Related Attitude and Behavior in Rural China

Based on data from a multistage cluster sample survey of 3,118 women aged 16-40 who were returned migrants or non-migrants in Sichuan and Annhui Provinces in 2000, we examined the impact of rural-urban migration on women’s family planning and reproductive health related attitude and behavior in the sending areas of rural China. Our analysis finds that returned rural-urban migrant women are more likely to adopt family planning and reproductive health related attitude and behavior than non-migrant women. The policy implications will be discussed.
